On top of that, the hardware itself is costing around $10,000. Coverage isn’t global yet, but it should work in the places we’re planning to visit.

Will you keep any traditional satcom capacity?

Yes, since coverage isn’t 100 percent. The plan is to continue using VSAT and bonded 4/5G mobile connectivity for internet coverage in areas where Starlink doesn’t have coverage yet. As Starlink’s coverage expands globally, we’ll reduce dependency on these other services; however, we’ll keep VSAT as a backup

A true highlight was passing through the Panama Canal from the Atlantic to the Pacific side on Vijonara. The canal is an engineering masterpiece, opened in 1914 and operating flawlessly ever since. They can fill a lock, using only gravity, with about 300 million litres of water in eight minutes. The scale is mind-boggling, and I’m happy we got to experience it.
